Expanding Horizons and Resources

I attempted to listen to the podcasts through the World Forum, but they were unavailable. I researched the Global Fund for Children and Save the Children websites to find out their mission and impact.

The purpose of the Global Fund for Children is to "find solutions to today's most pressing challenges, working to secure the well-being of all children and youth." First they research and find groups that work with children globally. Through research and hands-on experience, they fund programs that they believe will benefit the future of the youth involved. They network and create partnerships so that the work can be continued and so children can progress. They advocate for child rights and "influence government policy to defend and protect hundred's of thousands of children worldwide."

The Save the Children fund supports and protects children around the world, including refugees and children in crisis. Through the website you can choose to sponsor a child in the U.S. or another part of the world. You can choose a child and your donation towards them provides them with "necessities for a healthy and successful start to their life-nutrition, early childhood and adolescent development, education and school health."

I chose to research the National Head Start Association (NHSA) throughout this course, because I support head start programs and believe in their ideals. I have also come across this organization's website before, and I find it very informational. This institution believes that every child has the ability to "reach their full potential" which is why their programs support the whole family and provide a variety of learning experiences.  The website provides current head start models, general information, their impact, and news and events. I am eager to see what more I will discover from this association over the next few weeks.

  2. The National Head Start Association organization is an awesome program. I also like the fact that they support the whole family and not just the child.

    Thanks for sharing.
